Hypnotherapy for Low Mood & Depression in Bury & Manchester

Sometimes low mood isn't loud or dramatic.

You're still showing up, still functioning, but inside you feel flat, disconnected, like you're going through the motions rather than really living. You might not even call it depression. You just know something feels off. And you're ready for that to change.

When life feels heavy and you’re not quite yourself.

Low mood doesn't look the same for everyone. For many of the people I work with in Bury and Manchester, it's quieter than the clinical picture — not a crisis, but a persistent flatness that's hard to shake.

It might show up as low energy and motivation that doesn't lift, emotional numbness or disconnection from things you used to enjoy, a critical inner voice that's got louder lately, difficulty concentrating or making decisions, feeling tired even after sleeping, or a growing sense that you've lost a bit of yourself somewhere along the way.

You don't need a diagnosis or a label to deserve support. If something feels off, that's enough.

How hypnotherapy helps with low mood

A lot of low mood stems from a mind that's been overloaded, depleted, or stuck in threat mode for too long. When that happens, motivation drops, joy recedes, and everything feels harder than it should.

I use solution-focused hypnotherapy, informed by neuroscience, to work with the mind rather than against it. The approach is forward-focused — we're not excavating the past or dwelling on what's gone wrong. We're working with where you want to go and building the mental conditions to get there.

In practical terms the work focuses on reducing the mental load driving the flatness, calming an overactive stress response, rebuilding positive thought patterns at the subconscious level, and gradually restoring the motivation and emotional engagement that low mood suppresses.

This approach works alongside any existing medical support — if you're on medication or working with a GP or psychiatrist, hypnotherapy complements rather than replaces that care.

Sessions take place at my clinic in Bury, across Manchester, or online across the UK.

What clients notice changing

Change with low mood tends to be gradual rather than sudden, which is actually how real change works. Clients commonly notice feeling calmer and less overwhelmed, a quieter and kinder internal voice, better sleep and more energy, clearer thinking and less rumination, small sparks of motivation returning, and a growing sense of feeling more like themselves again.

Change doesn't have to be dramatic to be meaningful.

Is this right for you?

This works well if you feel low, flat, or emotionally drained, don't want to relive the past in detail, want something supportive but practical and forward-focused, are open to working at the subconscious level, or want to feel more like yourself again.

You don't need to have the right words or a label. If you're not sure whether this is right for you, the free 15-minute chat is exactly the right place to start.

Hello, I’m Suzanne

After 15+ years in senior leadership roles within growing, owner-led and mid-market businesses, managing teams while raising a family, and caring for ageing parents, I know what it’s like to appear in control on the outside while managing stress, anxiety, overwhelm, and self-doubt on the inside.

Facing my own health challenges, fertility journeys, grief, and career pressures revealed just how powerfully the mind affects our wellbeing, resilience and ability to cope. Through these experiences, I discovered the life-changing impact of caring for my mental fitness and seeking professional support when I needed it most.

That’s why I decided to retrain, swapping boardrooms for the chance to help people reset, reconnect with themselves, and move forward with more ease and confidence toward a more positive, hopeful, and happier state of mind.

We work with the mind — not against it.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes — solution-focused hypnotherapy is well suited to low mood and mild to moderate depression. It works at the subconscious level to reduce the mental load driving the flatness, calm an overactive stress response, and rebuild more positive patterns of thinking and feeling. It is not a replacement for medical care — if you are on medication or under the care of a GP or psychiatrist, hypnotherapy works alongside that support.

  • Yes. I offer in-person sessions at my clinic in Bury and across Manchester, as well as online sessions across the UK. Evening and weekend appointments are available online.

  • That's absolutely fine. Hypnotherapy works alongside medication rather than instead of it. I'll ask about any medication in the initial consultation, so I have the full picture. I don't advise on medication — that remains with your GP, and you should continue to take any medications prescribed by your doctor.

  • Counselling and CBT work primarily at the conscious level — talking through experiences and challenging thought patterns. Solution-focused hypnotherapy works at the subconscious level, where many of the patterns driving low mood actually live. It's also forward-focused — we're working on where you want to go, not analysing where you've been. Many clients come to me after counselling or CBT hasn't produced lasting change.

  • Low mood typically responds well within six to eight sessions, though some people notice meaningful shifts sooner. The initial consultation gives us a clear picture of what's driving things and what a realistic programme looks like.
