Understanding the Role of Weight-Loss Injections and Lifestyle Changes for Long-Term Success

According to data published by the British Medical Journal, users who discontinue weight-loss injections tend to regain their lost weight four times faster than those who stop conventional dieting and exercising, new research suggests.

Weight-loss injections are highly effective for jump-starting weight loss, delivering impressive results within just a few weeks. Whether you’re aiming to improve health or prepare for a special occasion, these treatments can be highly motivating and help suppress appetite, which many find challenging.

However, the medication doesn’t address the underlying habits or lifestyle choices related to food and exercise. The report indicates that individuals relying solely on non-pharmacological approaches experience slower weight regain. For those who have achieved success with injections and are considering life beyond them, implementing lifestyle changes can enhance the results and significantly improve the chances of maintaining weight loss without needing ongoing medication.

The findings from the British Medical Journal align with my experience. Many people struggling with weight have subconscious patterns around food and eating that they may not even be aware of. When treatment ends, these ingrained habits often remain, and without continued effort, old patterns can quickly re-emerge once appetite suppression from GLP-1 is gone.

In my practice, I work with clients to understand the mind-body connection involved in food, lifestyle, and fitness habits. By becoming aware of subconscious thoughts and gradually embedding healthier behaviours, we can reprogram the mind. This process leads to improved food choices, mindful eating, breaking lifelong eating patterns, and adopting a more active and motivating approach to fitness. An additional benefit of this work is achieving lasting weight-management goals.

For me, while weight-loss injections are a valuable tool in a weight management journey, long-term sustainable success still depends on reprogramming your subconscious to help change habits and lifestyle.
